When it becomes easy, when something in your life becomes super easy, that is when it becomes the most dangerous to you. All right? When something becomes easy is when you begin to take that one thing for granted and you can very quickly lose all of your hard work and effort. We’re going to dive into this one today. Let’s go.

This is a story of all about who am I. Hey, you guys, Dino Gomez here and you are listening to the Secrets of Coaching podcast, where we break down the nuances of growing a seven figure online coaching business. And we are about to get started in 3 2 1.

All right, we’re talking about self-sabotage today, guys. It is Thursday, 10:32 A.m., and a little bit overcast here in Southern California, but sitting down, bulk recording a bunch of podcast episodes for you guys. We have a bunch of new stuff coming out. I’ve been taking a ton of notes. I’ve had brilliant stories and concepts to share with you guys that I’ve been kind of mulling over the last 30 days or so. And now we get to share all of this cool stuff with you as well as what’s happening. We’re going to be talking about what’s happening in the market here because we’re seeing a lot of things change real rapidly. But today, let’s talk about self sabotage and warning signs of self-sabotage and what to be wary of, as well as how to gain some perspective on this. I’ll just start with this, right? When things become easy in our life is, generally speaking, when we begin to take those things for granted is when we begin to slip, is where we kind of open up the opportunity for competition. It’s where we can go backwards and or burn everything down real quickly without even knowing.

So we have to be real careful of when things become easy. All right, now, I will preface this by saying because I know we have a lot of individuals that love the concept of flow. And by the way, I’m a huge believer in the law of attraction. I love the concept of flow. I definitely believe in seasons to life where everything is just clicking for you. You have those days and those weeks where just everything is running perfectly. And on the flip side, then you have those seasons where just everything is chaotic all at once, and what can go wrong will go wrong. You have those seasons as well. So I believe in both sides of it. But what I will say is in terms of the things that you can control, which is kind of like your work ethic, your attitude, your habits, your actions, your words, your thoughts, how you take care of yourself. So your health and wellness, those types of things, guys, that one thing becomes easy for you is when you risk the most losing the thing you worked hard for. All right, what should we do when something becomes easy.

And what are some examples here? Well, generally speaking, right, once you’re real comfortable driving a car, then because you have that level of comfortability driving a car, that’s when you’re going to start texting and driving. And that’s when you’re going to start eating and driving. And some people, that’s when you start drinking and driving. And that’s when all the things start happening, because it’s so easy for you that you start to take it for granted. The luxury of owning a car, driving a car, being able to move yourself around, all of those things. When business becomes easy for you because you’re in flow, that’s when you will start to cut corners. I know from experience, all right? So one of our best marketing channels has always been email marketing. We have extensive data on this. And when business is crushing it, I start to find myself getting sometimes a little complacent where I ask myself, do I really need to write an email today? I’ve literally caught myself saying this before, let me know if this is you. We’re already having a record setting month. Why do I do I really need to write an extra email a day?

I start cutting corners, right? Our mind does that naturally. It wants to become complacent. And so suddenly it’s like, no, I don’t need to do a practice run of the presentation. I’ll just get up there and wing it and it’ll be awesome. I don’t need to send out the email. You know what? I really don’t feel like posting today. I don’t need to do that. I don’t feel like I need to go to the gym today. I’ve already gone several times this week. We start cutting those corners, and then what happens, right, is because of the time delay. We’ve spoken about this in other episodes, but maybe you guys missed that one. There’s always a time delay, and the time delay serves us it’s good, but ultimately it can fool us as well, all right? Because when you start to cut corners, the results are not instant, all right? If you skip the gym once, you’re not going to look in the mirror and notice a difference right away. What happens is it’s a slippery slope. You cut the gym. You decide, you know what? I’m taking Fridays off the gym. When you used to always go on Fridays.

So it’s just I’m still going to go the other four days of the work week, fridays, I’m giving myself off. Suddenly. Again, you’re not going to notice a difference in your physical or results your physique right away. So you’re going to think, yeah, I can get away with just going four times a week to the gym. I don’t need the fifth day. What will happen, right? Time delay kicks in. Three months later, you look up, you look in the mirror, your physique is now vastly different. You can actually tell the difference that hey, you stopped going every Friday and the same thing will happen in your business. Which is why it’s very difficult for business owners sometimes to track what is working for them and what isn’t is because we will get to a stage of growing our business. We will get to that flow state and where everything’s going real well. And then we’ll stop sending our daily emails, we’ll stop posting us frequently without tracking any of that. And again, it will not affect your business overnight. So you will think you can do less and still earn just as much and still have the same results.

It will become a recognizable difference three months later when suddenly you look up and you’re not having the same months that you were having it’s. Because again, things don’t happen overnight. They happen by compounding over time. And so we have to be real careful of that. And so this concept of when it becomes easy is when you it becomes the most dangerous, is because we start to take things for granted. All right? And so I’m a big believer in the vacations, in the three day weekends, taking care of your health and wellness, your mindset, family, and friends first as well. But be real careful when the going is good that you don’t let your foot off the gas pedal because that can become a slippery slope real quickly. All right. And so an exercise for you if you are crushing it right now and everything’s in flow. Awesome, right? Perfect time to journal so that you can have a detailed breakdown of everything that you’re doing while you are still super motivated. Before the self sabotage begins to kick in, before you want to get a little lax of NASA goal and start cutting corners, make sure you have created a blueprint for yourself of what is working right now when you are on fire, doing all the things.

On the flip side, if you’re like, do you know things are not going well right now? They were going super good six months ago. They’re not going well right now. If that is what you are currently experiencing, then you want to do the inverse of this, which is right, go back six months and see if you can figure out what were you doing then that was working. All right. That’s number one. And number two, have I made adjustments according to what is going on in the market right now? Because the market definitely in the online space and definitely depending on your particular niche, it does change rapidly. And so you want to make sure you are making adjustments accordingly. But the big thing, guys, is that when you notice it’s getting super, super easy for you, be extra careful. And because your mind will get bored and because it gets bored, that’s when you begin cutting corners and you will actually, without even realizing it, you will create problems for yourself as a way to entertain yourself. So again, your brain is a computer system that loves to solve problems. Make sure you’re giving it the input.

Make sure you’re giving it a positive question and problem to solve so that you continue down this path of things going really well. And so if you don’t, it will cause the problems for you. You will begin self sabotaging without realizing it, cutting corners. It will catch up to you, and then before you know it, you’re scrambling to get back to the spot that you currently are. Now, that is the spot that you like to be. All right, so hope that one is helpful, guys. Chat with you in the next episode.
